2012 Republican Presidential Candidates

Republican Party Debate

Things Learned from the Republican Party Debate

Republican Party debate

The republicans really don't get enough credit - this bunch in particular. They are a wily bunch, and they all seem to be very up front and straight shooters. In fact, that was the common theme for me for the republican debate that took place in early December. It's not that I wouldn't vote for Obama if I thought that he was doing the right things with his campaign and with his efforts, it's just that I highly doubt that he is going to be doing so.

What I learned from...

Michele Bachmann - She is extremely skilled in the art of marketing and human psychology. She is always trying to implant ideas in heads using very key marketing tactics. This was proven when she grouped Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich together and the "Mitt and Newt" policies which Mitt immediately addressed when he said that they shouldn't be grouped together. That being said, Michele Bachmann is also a very straight shooter, and has "been there and done that" - as she pointed out when talking about her trips overseas. She is honest, upfront, and a very worthy candidate for the presidential campaign.

Ron Paul - I think Mitt Romney described the type of person Ron Paul is best when he said that the only people that he sees at the debates are Ron Paul fans. Through sleet and snow, they are the ones that show up at all of the debates. He is absolutely beloved by his people. He makes very good points, and is all about decreasing the size of the Fed, as well is very Anti War - which a lot of people tend to like.

Newt Gingrich - Newt Gingrich is a very smart fellow. He tends to make very strong points about the economy. Sometimes the points make a whole lot of sense. Sometimes they seem a little bit wishy-washy. He is definitely not one to get knocked down easily and he knows how to defend himself very well. He was put on the spot about his former marriage issues and he seemed to respond very well to it all.

Rick Perry - Rick seemed to come out gun slinging and taking shots at Mitt Romney right away. They were all very valid points however, as Mitt seemed to say the "right things" but was obviously on the defense. He seemed very upfront about everything and was adamant about fixing what is in place right now before thinking about creating new solutions to existing problems. E.g. the illegal immigrant situation.

Rick Santorum - Rick Santorum prides himself on being very consistent, and in fact Newt Gingrich commended him on that after the debate was over with. He fights for what he thinks is right, and like he said all throughout the debate, not only does he fight, but he wins all the fights that he picks. He believes in building the economy from the bottom up.

Mitt Romney - Mitt seems like a presidential candidate. He has the presidential look. But he seems to be a little flip floppy. With the right ideas and a little bit stronger of a campaign plan, I feel that he could really be a good president. However I do not like the fact that he "promises 11.5 million jobs" because well, those types of promises did not work out too well with President Obama.

Overall, I really do like all of the presidential candidates, they all seem to be doing a very good job and they all seem to be representing there party as best as they possibly can. One thing I would like to them to focus on the next round of debate is the education factor. There is a ton of money going into our education system these days. Many student are pointlessly falling into massive amounts of debt, and I am not talking about the kind of debt that one falls into when using balance transfer credit cards. They fall in to tens of thousands of dollars of debt getting degrees that are totally useless in the real world. The educations system in our country needs to be restructured. Let's hope that they talk about their plans for the education system in their future debates.
